Piedmont, in Northwest Italy, is one of its most prestigious wine-producing regions. These picturesque rolling hills lined with vineyards & dotted with castles produce some of the highest quality Italian wines. The most notable of these are Barolo, Barbaresco, Dolcetto, Barbera d'Asti & Asti Spumante.

Lake Garda is the largest of the lovely lakes of Lombardy situated just south of the Alps. Bordered by mountains to the north, this lake is so large that as it broadens toward the south it takes on the appearance of an inland sea. It is bordered by many picturesque villages, such as the quaint town of Bardolino in the Valpolicella wine region.

The Veneto region, located in the Northeastern part of Italy, is known for its Valpolicella vineyards which produce some of Italy's finest wines, such as Amarone, Ripasso, Bardolino & Valpolicella. In the center of the Veneto region sits the charming historical town of Verona. Boasting a similar Roman & Medieval heritage, Verona looks like a small scale version of Rome complete with a mini-Colosseum which now hosts famous opera stars instead of Gladiators. Such litererary giants as Dante Alighieri and Shakespeare have lived & written in Verona. Dante wrote much of The Divine Comedy within Verona's walls & Shakespeare forever immortalized the tragic lives of Romeo & Juliet, whose home & famous balcony in the heart of Verona is a popular tourist stop.
