The Veneto region, located in the Northeastern part of Italy, is known for its Valpolicella vineyards which produce some of Italy's finest wines, such as Amarone, Ripasso, Bardolino & Valpolicella. In the center of the Veneto region sits the charming historical town of Verona. Boasting a similar Roman & Medieval heritage, Verona looks like a small scale version of Rome complete with a mini-Colosseum which now hosts famous opera stars instead of Gladiators. Such litererary giants as Dante Alighieri and Shakespeare have lived & written in Verona. Dante wrote much of The Divine Comedy within Verona's walls & Shakespeare forever immortalized the tragic lives of Romeo & Juliet, whose home & famous balcony in the heart of Verona is a popular tourist stop.
